Why I Started SwimsByDidi

In 2020, when the world was in the grip of the pandemic, I found myself craving a sense of freedom and joy—something I realized swimming had always given me. As restrictions started easing and we were allowed outside again, I imagined diving into the pool and feeling that sense of release. But there was a problem: I had no swimsuits that truly fit.

It wasn’t just that I was missing swimwear; it was that I had never found a swimsuit in Ghana that fit me in all the right places. If the bottoms fit, the top was too tight. If the top fit, the bottoms wouldn’t. One-pieces didn’t flatter my shape, and I was tired of the endless cycle of ill-fitting swimsuits that left me feeling uncomfortable and self-conscious. What I wanted was a simple, stylish black bikini that felt like me—not bold prints or overly complex designs, just something classic and versatile.

That frustration turned into inspiration. I decided to design a swimsuit that fit my body the way I wanted it to, both top and bottom. As I worked on creating that perfect black bikini, it hit me: I couldn’t be the only one wanting something that just fit right. I realized there were likely others who were tired of compromising on comfort and style, so I created my first collection of Dikinis—starting with eight colors.

SwimsByDidi was born out of my desire to provide well-fitting, simple, and stylish swimwear for anyone looking for their perfect fit. Today, I’m proud to bring that dream to life, helping others feel confident and comfortable in the swimwear they choose.
